DIPLOME D'ETUDES EN LANGUE FRANÇAISE (DELF)
The Diplôme d’études en langue française or DELF represents the first four levels of French as a
foreign language issued by CIEP (Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques). These four levels are: A1 (Breakthrough), A2 (Waystage), B1 (Threshhold) and B2 (Vantage) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment.
DELF A1 candidates should be able to:
- Maintain simple interactions.
- Talk about themselves and their immediate environment.
DELF A2 candidates should be able to:
- Undertake simple everyday tasks.
- Use courtesy and frequent exchange forms.
DELF B1 candidates should be able to:
- Understand and participate in a discussion.
- Give advice.
- Express opinions.
- Express themselves in unforeseen situations.
DELF B2 candidates should be able to:
- Defend their point of view.
- Develop their point of view.
- Negotiate.
- Master social discourse.
- Correct their own mistakes.
