COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES: LEARNING, TEACHING, ASSESMENT
The Common European Framework for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) is the reference document employed when describing the language learning levels of European students. This Council of Europe initiative is aimed at providing a teaching and assessment method that is common to all European Languages.
In November 2001, a European resolution recommended the use of the CEFR
to establish language skills systems. The six levels of the CEFR employed to
assess language skills are becoming increasingly accepted,
although traditional terms (beginner, intermediate etc.) are still in
common usage.
The six levels of the Common European Framework (CEF) are:
| C2 |
Mastery |
| C1 |
Effective Operation Proficiency |
| B2 |
Vantage |
| B1 |
Threshold |
| A2 |
Waystage |
| A1 |
Breakthrough |
The following table shows how the six levels of the Common European Framework (CEF) correspond to official exams prepared by Dixon Formación. For further information about these language exams, click on the corresponding acronym.
